Creating eye-catching infographics in corportate standards that tell the story at a glance is a passion of mine since I’m a visual learner and appreciate graphics to take the place of, or augment a 1000 words.

Featured below are information graphics that I created for Elevation Health Magazine. I’ve done illustrations in various styles, so please ask if you don’t see what you’re looking for.

This was a 7-year quarterly email campaign that had a different yearly theme like, “Extreme Relo” shown here. I did the concepting, design, and photography on these projects. Each year my client, Cindy Schlager, would pick a theme and I’d put together concepts and then shoot her in number of different poses and, many times, Photoshop them together with stock photography.

Cindy’s goal with campaign was to sell based on her fun personality because that, she said, was her strongest quality. She emailed them out to a national group of real estate agents so they would think of her company, Wright Kingdom, when they had relocation real estate needs in Boulder County. That group had an annual conference that which when she attended, she said people treated like a celebrity because of these emails. It worked—she was noticed, remembered and well-liked. We won an award for this campaign. This style really appeals to me because I like the combination of humor mixed with bright colors and bold, energetic themes. What a blast!

Jen asked me to create a nature-based design for her collateral that conveyed a feeling of safety and calm. I felt that Jen’s welcoming smile naturally showed the kindness and understanding she possesses, so I suggested that we feature her portrait juxtaposed against a serene natural scene on the front page because that would sell the service.

First I designed a quick logo for Jen so the site would have a professional presence, then I shot photos of both her and her office (featured on her home and contact pages). Next, I created a few web design concepts for Jen to choose from and designed the full site to compliment the chosen design direction. I also suggested that we create a special boxed section on each page to showcase Jen’s unique offerings at a glance since making those credentials stand-out important to Jen.

Playing hosts to Boy & Girl Scout fundraisers, prom nights, and countless Superbowl parties, the sports memorabilia decorated Wing Cave is a big part of the fabric of the Northglenn, CO community. It was very important to the Wing Cave that we focus on community and family with their marketing. In addition, they’re of course also known for their wings and for being a great place to watch sports.

To help convey all those things, I used pictures of food, beer, community event photos they supplied, and even a picture of the owners thanking the community in a rotating banner and came up with the tagline, “Wings, Sports & Community!” which I featured it prominently on the home page. To speak to families, I also used a bright color, contrasting pallet which I pulled from their logo and added black to make the colors pop. I took the rooster image from the logo and converted it to a solid white and ghosted it against the black for added visual interest. When I showed the final site to the customer, they said, “I really love it!” and that means everything to me.

The Glasser NY catalog was a lot in hurry. In a 3 week period, I photographed products featured in this 12-page catalog that I designed, produced, and got it printed by their trade show. They were beyond pleased. I was pumped to have risen to the challenge and taken care of them. It was fun… and stressful…but still fun.

20 years ago, straight out of art school, I was hired by one of my former printing clients because she liked that I knew the technical as well as the artistic aspects of graphic design. After a decade producing pieces like these on the print side, it was fun to be the designer and to know exactly how to set up my files in a technically correct way while incorporating in die-cuts and foil stamps.

Early in my design career I designed lots of ads & posters. The ones pictured were for the Educational, Real Estate and Home Decor industries. Some these ran in Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, Porchlink, Daily Camera, Luxe in addition to other local publications. All were created in Indesign with support graphics made in Photoshop and Illustrator. A few of the ads also feature my digital illustration & photography.

Peak wanted their look updated and asked for a new website. I suggested we also update the logo so that it looked more current as well. Below are the before (bottom) and after (top) versions of the logo. I streamlined their mountain shape and incorporated it along with sans serif fonts and redefined the color pallet slightly.

I designed and built this WordPress website to complement the new logo, while also showcasing Peak’s impressive construction & design capabilities. It’s always nice to have beautiful photos to work with.

Swordtail Wi-Fi was my first packaging project and I wanted to knock it out of the park. So, the first thing I did was to go to The Guitar Center (GC) to see level of design used on existing musical device packaging so I could make this one stand out on store shelves. Surprisingly, the packaging design I saw at GC wasn’t that strong. I still wanted to push our design over the top, so I studio shot each unit then Photoshopped in a purple (their corporate color) background.

These irregularly-shaped boxes are for shipping violins and violas. When I work with a unique printing project like this, I try obtain direct contact with the printer so I can give them the files they need to do their best work. Because I had good communication with the printer on this project, I was able to see die-line and layout inconsistencies that impacted trims & bleeds and was able to fix them before ever submitting final files which saved time and money.

I created several design options and a 3D mock-up of the chose option.

In this recent installment of 50 or so viola images, I was provided one black 4-string carbon fiber viola with strings, one silver viola with no strings and one 5-string acoustic viola.

I shot both sides of the instruments. Then, in Photoshop, I manicured the photos, cut out all componentry, then swapped metallic and carbon fiber texture and created 16 across 2 textures and in 2 different string configurations. See more about this and other Photo Retouching projects.

It’s an honor and a lot of fun helping develop someone’s brand and the logo is huge piece of that. It has to be functional, speak to the client & the market, and be interesting to look at. I designed most of these logos from scratch, and with a few, I inherited shapes that I enhanced and integrated (Glasser, Von’s, Swordtail, Sol Vista).
